The Arsenal boss is coming under increasing pressure after a run of just one win in seven in all competitions. There
have been protests by fans and the Gunners go into tonight's game
against Barcelona needing to win by two clear goals to go through and
have any chance of salvaging a trophy this season.
But on the eve of his 200th game in the competition Wenger said he was still the right man for the job.
"I have no doubt about my huge motivation," he said."I built the club, and the way I did it was with hard work. I had no external resources.
"When you're a long time somewhere you always question your motivation, but I don't question mine.
"I don't question my dedication. It is 100-per-cent and I give more time to my club than when I arrived."
His current contract expires next summer, but he says he will know when the time is right to walk away.
"I don't want to go into a discussion about fans because it can be interpreted both ways," he added.
"I believe that I am honest enough to make sure I give my best. I'm not too much of an image person. I just want to give my best for this club. I am determined to do that.
Arsenal, who lost the first leg of the the last 16 clash 2-0, welcome back Laurent Koscielny in place of Calum Chambers in defence."I am convinced the players have decided to give a strong response," Wenger added."We have to deliver something special.
"The advantage in our position is that the task is clear. We have to attack. That's what we like.
"But the magicians of Barcelona will demand a good defensive performance from our side."
