A 26 stone man who lost half his body weight to become a 'rock star' stunned viewers with his chiselled appearance on The Voice.
Smitten
viewers called Rick Snowdon, 29, from Hartlepool, County Durham,
'beautiful' and compared him to Brad Pitt after seeing him on the BBC
talent show.
And
they were astonished to discover that the long-haired hunk who
performed I Put A Spell On You had locked himself away for four years
because he was so unhappy with his peak weight at the age of 22.
Last night
he unveiled his trim physique because he said, 'no one wants to see a
26-stone rock star' - and his looks met with Twitter's approval. On the show, Rick said: 'Growing up I was always overweight, I slowly got bigger and bigger and bigger.
'There
was a lot of shame about it. I didn't really want to be around people. I
locked myself in the house for the best part of four and a half years.
Rick said:
'Now that I've lost the weight, I want to inspire people to show them
that they can actually lose the weight and go and chase their dreams
too. Ten years ago I never would have believed I would be auditioning
for The Voice.'
His
performance clearly impressed the judges with his rendition of the Nina
Simone classic in the blind auditions, with Paloma Faith, Boy George
and Ricky Wilson all turning their chairs for the contestant.
George
called it a 'great performance and a great voice' and Ricky called him a
'flipping 10' but Rick picked Paloma because he wanted someone to bring
out the 'performer in me.'
And when Rick revealed he had previously been obese to the judges they were shocked.
Twitter
users were blown away by Rick's transformation from obese to chiselled
with one amazed he had turned from Pop Idol finalist 'Rik Waller to Brad
Pitt'
Twitter
users were equally impressed by his transformation, Tony Shepherd
posted: 'That guy went from looking like [Pop Idol finalist] Rik Waller
to Brad Pitt.'
While Vanessa Adams applauded his new look and wrote: 'Wow, look at him now! Well done sir.'
Hannah
Roberts called it 'insane' while Sarah-Louise wrote 'what an awesome
transformation and voice. Fair play to him. He's stunning.'
And Laura Claire was won over by Rick's new look and wrote: 'My god, that boy is beautiful.'
