The National Executive Council of the Peoples Democratic Party has
deleted the name of former President Olusegun Obasanjo from the list of
its Board of Trustees members.Shortly before the 2015 general elections, Obasanjo had resigned his membership of the former ruling party in dramatic fashion.
Obasanjo tore to shreds, his membership card after sending a letter
to the national leadership of the party complaining about the role given
to Senator Buruji Kashamu in the South West chapter of the party.The removal of 31 names- mostly founding fathers- were on Monday,
approved during the PDP’s meeting at the party’s national headquarters
in Abuja.
Three former national chairmen of the party –Barnabas Gemade, Kawu
Baraje and Bamanga Tukur- were among the names removed from the PDP BoT.Five former Speakers of the House of Representatives – Salihu Buhari,
Ghali Na’Abba, Aminu Masari, Patricia Ette and Aminu Tambuwal –were
also deleted from the list.
The rest are former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former
Senate President Ken Nnamani; former Gombe State Governor Danjuma Goje;
former Akwa Ibom State Governor Victor Attah; and Jim Nwobodo.
