A good Samaritan was shot and killed south of downtown Los Angeles
early Saturday morning when he chased after one of two suspects who had
snatched a woman’s purse, police said. The shooting occurred about 3:25
a.m. in an industrial area near 14th Street and Long Beach Avenue, Jenny
Houser, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The shooting victim was transferred to a local hospital, where he was
pronounced dead, Houser said. His identity was withheld pending family
notification.
There were no more details immediately available about the incident
that prompted the shooting. “The case is ongoing,” Houser said, “and our
investigators are trying to identify the two suspects.”
